Role Summary

Clarq AI is hiring a Founding Engineer to build the first AI-native software experience on top of our current hardware platform.

This is a first-engineer role for someone who can take vague product and business direction, turn it into a usable web-based product, and iterate quickly once it is in real use. You will report directly to the CEO and CTO and work closely with the founding team to decide what should be built now, what should wait, and how to ship the right first version without overbuilding.

Why This Role Exists

Clarq AI sits at the intersection of hardware, software, analytics, and AI-native product workflows. Our hardware stack is already defined. What we need now is an engineer who can build the first software layer that makes that hardware useful in real training environments.

The near-term focus is not building a large engineering organization or polishing a perfect platform. It is shipping a usable first product for real training sessions, learning quickly from use, and expanding from there into additional product surfaces for trainers and commercial fitness owners.

What You'll Build First

• A first shippable web-based product used during real training sessions with the current hardware lineup
• AI-powered product behavior that makes the training experience more useful, not just more novel
• The earliest software layer that can later expand into trainer-facing and owner-facing modules

What You'll Inherit

• Rough mockups and funnel direction
• Existing product and integration documents
• Hardware specifications and software integration boundaries
• Connections to legacy systems that the new product will need to work with

What You'll Do

• Own problems end to end, from rough concept through implementation and iteration
• Translate incomplete direction into scoped product decisions and shipped software
• Choose pragmatic technologies that let the team move quickly without unnecessary complexity
• Build across frontend, backend, and integration boundaries as needed
